Dave Richo and I talk about trust issues: our capacity to trust, self-trust, trusting the world and higher trust. We talk about dealing with life's "givens," times when trust is broken, and how we can deal with and learn from what happens to us as we learn to fully love.
See how mindfulness and loving kindness practices can grow your own emotional well-being.

Dave Richo is the author of 'How to Be an Adult in Relationships'  and 'The Five Things We Cannot Change'.  His latest book is Daring To Trust (2010) is a insight-producing exploration into trust issues within our partnerships (and ourelves) and how to explore and learn from them openly.

Five Keys to Wellbeing

What could be more important than wellbeing?  Yet according to the book Wellbeing, The Five Essential Elements, only 7% of all people are living in their wellbeing in all the key areas of life.

Today's show is for the 93% of you who are open and looking to improve your lives, as we focus on what contributes most to our wellbeing over a lifetime.  I cover the five key areas of life: career wellbeing, social wellbeing, financial wellbeing, physical wellbeing and community wellbeing and what comes first: internal wellbeing or the external change?

For me, my psychological wellbeing precedes my external successes.  But only every single time, in my experience.  What do you think?

Tom Rath did not make it on the show today, but you can find out about the book Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements here

Ultimate Psychological Freedom

Do you believe we all have complete freedom? Complete. Freedom. When Viktor Frankl (Man's Search For Meaning) said that even when the Nazi's were torturing his body, he still had ultimate freedom to choose, what did he mean? Was he simply an exceptional human being with something special about him that no one else has? And If we all have this capacity, how do we tap into it every day?

My guest is Kara Stamback, whose work is based on Three Principles Psychology; we will talk about what ultimate psychological freedom means and just how accessible it is.

Kara Stamback, M.S., is a teacher, counselor, consultant and facilitator in principle-based psychology. She is an Associate at www.pranskyandassociates.com

The Attitude For Growth

We tend to think that safety comes from retraction.  A closed stance feels protected; an open stance seems exposed.  But the opposite is actually true.  Resistance does not protect us from the world around us, and as those things happen anyway, resistance keeps us from adapting and having a creative response to whatever is happening.

I talk about five ways to cultivate an attitude of growth: self-observation, questions, openness/listening, knowing our stories, and seeing the ways we are connected.

Will the Real Happy please stand up....

Robert Holden introduced me to the notion of there being a world of difference between the 'pursuit of happiness' and 'following your joy'. In the show I talk about Robert's work, the purpose of happiness, limits we place on our happiness and how and why we learned to be unhappy.  I read from Michael Neill's Feel Happy Now, and Barry Neil Kaufmans' To Love is To Be Happy With'.

Suggested exercise for this week:  Take your happiness temperature.  How happy are you on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being unreasonably joyous)?  Find a moment or two during the week when you consciously and deliberately raise your Happiness Thermometer just a bit. You don't have to aim for the moon!  And you don't need a reason.   Notice what it takes to do deliberately raise your level.

Want more ways to explore happiness?  Here's a few more exercises to open the mind and heart

If you want to talk more about how to be happier, let me know!

International success coach and renowned author of Supercoach, Michael Neill and I explore what it means to 'transform' and the deeply satisfying and joyous experience of being alive inside a meaningful life.

In the show Michael offered a couple of ideas to play with ... one was to consider the quesion "What am I about to create?" before we speak or act.  If you tried that, what was your experience?
