Awareness, Awareness, Awareness

What if you woke up only to find you were asleep?
The difference between waking up and wondering where all the time went, and a full life hinges on awareness.  At least for me, it does..

I talk about the three elements of awareness, plus the wonderful inspiration of Anthony de Mello, Don Miguel Ruiz, Eldon Taylor and Peter Fenner.

Here is the suggested practice which is from Anthony de Mello's book "Awareness"

Identify the negative feelings in you

Understand that they are in you not in the world

Do no see them as part of your I (they come and go)

Understand that when you change, everything changes

Explore this further and see the video of Anthony de Mello.

What happens when you help someone with no other motive than to lend a hand? You feel it.  And it feels like something in alignment with that better part of yourself.

Bryan Douglas just helped. He drove 5,000 miles to Chicago and back to deliver a car battery and didn't stop there. He also wrote a book and maybe started a movement.  We talk about what he learned.

Will the Real Happy please stand up....

Robert Holden introduced me to the notion of there being a world of difference between the 'pursuit of happiness' and 'following your joy'. In the show I talk about Robert's work, the purpose of happiness, limits we place on our happiness and how and why we learned to be unhappy.  I read from Michael Neill's Feel Happy Now, and Barry Neil Kaufmans' To Love is To Be Happy With'.

Suggested exercise for this week:  Take your happiness temperature.  How happy are you on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being unreasonably joyous)?  Find a moment or two during the week when you consciously and deliberately raise your Happiness Thermometer just a bit. You don't have to aim for the moon!  And you don't need a reason.   Notice what it takes to do deliberately raise your level.

Want more ways to explore happiness?  Here's a few more exercises to open the mind and heart

If you want to talk more about how to be happier, let me know!
